This note is a follow up to the Market Update I posted on the 9th of August. At the time we described the market as being 'gripped with fear', immediately following the downgrading of the USA sovereign from AAA+ to AA+ by rating agency Standard and Poors. To get an appreciation of the extent of market volatility experienced during the month the following table shows the ranges traded in key markets.
